While small in size, the Republic of San Marino has much to offer, also to those who love the great outdoors. While still unknown to many visitors the Republic of San Marino has steep hills, cliff-edge paths and hidden caves just outside of the city centre which makes it a perfect hiking destination. To make more people aware of these hidden gems the Republic of San Marino invited Erik from the Dutch travel community Around the Globe to explore San Marinos nature, try the local food, wine and its traditions. During a three day visit he traversed the Medieval city centre with its charming squares and centuries old towers and combined it with hiking the beautiful paths, the Percorso della Rupe/Cliff, the Republic of San Marino has to offer. This well marked path starts at the Cable Car to continue its route along local markets, small villages, natural caves and cliff-edge paths with stunning views over San Marino and Emilia Romagna. Stairs at the end of the trail will lead you back to the city walls so you can return to the city centre to relax a bit or continue your path to any of the other breath-taking viewing points and towers. To regain energy Erik alternated the adventurous hiking activities with a relaxing stroll through the Medieval city centre, visiting the museums and held breaks at one of the many terrace restaurants to taste and enjoy the local cuisine. The top three activities recommended by Erik of Around the Globe after visiting the Republic of San Marino are: Watching the sunset at the Piazza della Libertą while having diner and enjoying the local cuisine Explore the Percorso della Rupe for breath taking views and some exciting adventures Get up early to watch the sunrise with your loved ones before exploring the old Medieval city centre.
